New Jersey Community Development Corporation
The New Jersey Community Development Corporation is a wonderful non-profit organization doing an incredible amount to help the community of Paterson, New Jersey. I worked directly with the staff at the NJCDC to craft a website that could be used to properly market their organization. We went with a complete redesign from their old site and focused on building a dynamic website with an easy to use content management system to allow the staff to keep the site updated and fresh. This website was created on top of the open source publishing platform Wordpress. The custom theme and functionality development, including XHTML, CSS, JS, Flash, and PHP, were my responsibility. This site design is the wonderful work of Tim O’Connor.
Custom List Marketing
Another gorgeous design by Tim O’Connor and coded with XHTML and CSS by yours truly, the newly launched Custom List Marketing website initially showed how a simple static web site can still pack a big marketing punch. After launch, the company decided they wanted to offer products on the site as well, and thus I developed the site into a Ruby on Rails site which uses a backend for the admin to post and manage the companies products, a cart for a user to add products to, and an encrypted and secure Paypal checkout to easily complete transactions.
Family Psychology of South Bend"
Dr. John Petersen recognizes the importance of having a well designed and frequently updated website to help share his passion and expertise through. This is another website I created using Wordpress for content management. The theme code, including XHTML, CSS, and PHP were all my responsibility. This site is another beautiful example of design by Tim O’Connor. The project was overseen by Chas Grundy of Birch Lake Studios.
MePrice
I find working in a startup environment to be extremely exciting, fast-paced, and fun. MePrice was the perfect combination of these aspects, with a very talented group of individuals and a unique idea. All working from different parts of the country, we came together for a couple months to knock out a really unique web application. I was responsible for all front-end work of this Django project, doing all the XHTML, CSS, and a lot of JS. The clean and spiffy design work was done by Mateo Balsden.
90 Percent Gravity"
Duh. Well I felt I should put this here because it’s really my ongoing project and I’m doing everything from server setup and maintenance to hacking away at my cms and writing all the xhtml, css, and entries. The design and logo for my site are all thanks to Tim O’Connor. The site was originally built upon Simplelog and run on Slicehost. Just recently tho, due to improved rails support on my original server and the discontinuation of Simplelog development, I switched over to Mephisto for my blog and Dreamhost for hosting.
Learning Masters
What I consider to be my first real freelance job, as I administrated as well as coded all the XHTML and CSS. They are a custom training developer. The web design and flash animation was done by Lynn Fellman
Notre Dame Web Group
Here is a list of some of the bigger projects I’ve had a large percentage of the responsibility for coding as a member of the Notre Dame Web Group. All design work was done by the amazing Jim Gosz unless otherwise noted.
ND Press
The Notre Dame Press site stands as my largest published Ruby on Rails site yet. Being lead developer on the project gave me the opportunity to learn a great deal about web application development, client relations, database configuration, and content management. It was a great opportunity to work with the ND Press and create a clean, updated, and easily maintainable site. Check it out, I am quite proud of it.
Admissions Chat
There was a need to create an application which allowed visitors to participate in a live chat with admissions during specified chat times. As lead developer, I created the app from scratch, did 90 percent of the coding, and it worked wonderfully. This was a great learning experience, very fast development, and definitely my favorite project to date.
ND.edu
The Notre Dame Web Group finally had the opportunity to redo the nd.edu website. Everyone did an amazing amount of work to get this site up. Jim Gosz, Tim O’Connor, and Noah Armstrong all put in design work on this site. I was responsible for a lot of different pieces of code throughout the site, but pages for which I was lead developer on are as follows:
